Covid update 16 July 2021
Practice Update:
Due to the confirmed changes by the Government regarding the lock down easing from Monday 19th July 2021, we would like to confirm that the current telephone triage appointment system will remain the same as it has throughout the pandemic.
Daily bookings will remain at 8.30am where an ANP or GP will call you back on the same day that you have requested the telephone triage call. The clinician will arrange a face to face appointment if they feel there is a clinical need for the appointment; this has always been the case throughout the pandemic and this will continue. The Face-to-face appointments will also be organised so that we reduce the number of patients waiting in the waiting room. Thus, maintaining social distancing guidelines.
We are aware of the frustration that some patients have experienced recently with the telephone system; the practice will be having a new system installed within the next couple of weeks, hopefully reducing call waiting times. In the last year, our patient list size has increased significantly; therefore we have employed an additional member of staff to help with increase of calls.
During the pandemic, the practice has looked at additional ways of patients being able to contact the practice, we now offer an online platform called E-Consult, this enables you to complete questions online and receive a response from the practice within 48 hours. We also have a new website which offers different ways of contacting the practice, such as online health questionnaires, fit note requests as well as patient advice which many patients have left great feedback for.
You can also order your repeat prescriptions online rather than having to phone the practice.
Having a Kirton Medical Centre Facebook page has enabled patients to receive updates about the practice which we will continue to use.
If you do have a face to face appointment at the practice with any of our clinicians’ we kindly ask that you do wear a face mask to continue to reduce the spread of coronavirus, protecting our staff and patients.
Thank you.
Important: Please DO NOT enter the practice if you have symptoms of Coronavirus.

IMPROVE ACCESS TO GP PRACTICE
SERVICES IN BOSTON
The NHS in Lincolnshire is currently working on the best way to develop and
improve access to local GP practice services. Some of this work includes the best
way patients can be offered GP practice service appointments outside of normal
working hours (8am – 6:30pm). This may be referred to as “Enhanced Access”.
Your views are needed to help us shape the approach to how patients can access
local GP Practice services in your area.
Please share your views by competing our survey by 8th July 2022.
You can complete the survey online or paper copies are available in the your practice

Kirton Medical Centre Staff changes
GP changes
Although many of you will already know, Dr Bunting is leaving Kirton Medical Centre at the end of April, 3 months short of his 25th anniversary, having started here in August 1998.
Dr Boyle left in December last year, and so we are excited to announce that we have 2 new GPs starting in May: Dr David Wordsworth and Dr Muhammed Khan. Dr Wordsworth joins us from a practice in Norfolk, but knows Boston and Lincolnshire well having been working training GPs here for the last year. Dr Khan joins us from working in Spalding, having trained as a GP in the local area. Dr Khan and Dr Wordsworth both have good experience in General Practice, and we are sure you will welcome them both.
Both have already done some days working with us, so have begun to meet you. Together with Dr Lowe, they are excited to be leading Kirton Medical Centre into the future.

Staff Changes
We are pleased to welcome Kay Jones to our team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Kay replaces Janine, who has retired. Kay has dual qualifications in adults and paediatrics and has an extensive experience in hospital and community medicine. She has already started working with us and has settled in well.
